Character Name: Audrey Flowers

World Description: the comics on the Magicians wiki

History: Audrey's wiki entry

Death: AU of the final issue: there's complications with the spell they used to temporarily kill themselves to stop Sophie's contract. She lasts until the final events before giving in to them and ultimately dying.

What are your plans for this character in-game? Audrey is a girl who has an outside-the-box sort of approach to handling problems, at least in comparison to Brakebills kids. This would be fun to try to apply to Beacon's many mysteries. While I don't think she'll be on the forefront of plans since she's not much of a leader, she's definitely a second-in-command type and she's certainly going to try to help out. She's far too stubborn to be passive about anything, and she really does give a shit and would be into helping various characters and NPCs. It'll be nice to put her in a situation where she's trying to gain respect, but isn't automatically negatively judged because of her magical training.

What aspects of this game and/or its setting are you most interested in having this character engage with? As a returning player, the environment is something I really like--it's a little bit of mystery, a little bit of survival, a little bit of horror, with some slice of life. I also want to engage in the events--a lot of them seem to be geared to pairing unlikely CR together, and I'm totally for that.

How does your character generally get along with other people? Audrey is capable of being civil. In general she's pretty friendly (or at least cordial) with someone unless they seem judgemental. She's not one to take things lying downm though, and she will get in people's faces if she feels wronged, but it's only (in her opinion) in her own defense. She isn't a physical fighter and won't start physical altercations but she has Opinions, and is not afraid to argue about them. She can come across as a little cranky sometimes because of this--but the short answer is no, generally, she's easy to get along with. She only pushes buttons when she's mad or in the self-sabotaging mood, which is rare and only when it comes to romance. Because she's very vocal about her own opinions and beliefs, she can come across as either incredibly intimidating or incredibly annoying, depending on who you talk to.

What is your character's mental state upon entering the game? She'd have been anticipating her death on some level--she did it to herself, after all. That doesn't make it any less brutal on someone who just started her life and had a whole plan on how to study as much magic as she could. She's also recently learned she'd been lied to by Dean Fogg and Keshawn, as she was being taught battle magic to force her to fight against a former student. In short: the semi-cranky hedge-witch is pissed. She'd been planning on making major waves in Magician History only to have that ripped away from her.

Skills/Abilities: -Audrey is a Magician, a human that can use magic via complicated hand gestures, rituals, and words. While she's not a Master Magician, Magicians themselves are powerful: the list of canonical spells is quite strong. They can easily be nerfed so as to not break the game, as they require the caster to take into account different circumstances that can easily go awry or be 'off.'
-Audrey is a Hedge Witch. This means when she casts magic, she relies more on intuition. She's not been classically trained--she's clawed and fought her way into Safe Houses to learn little scraps of magic, and is far more of a 'school of hard knocks' than pristine academia.
-While she's a Hedge Witch and not a Brakebills educated, Audrey is still incredibly gifted intellectually: she's fluent in multiple languages, including dead ones, and is naturally talented at math, science and physics.
-Audrey herself is a big world religions buff

Flaws/Weaknesses: Audrey is very, very stubborn--this is definitely both a positive and a negative trait. She wears her emotions on her sleeve, so people often find her over-emotional or cranky if she gets frustrated, which she does when it comes to other people quite often. Because of this, her frustration is easy to read even if she's trying to hide it and she can be predictable.

She has a tough exterior, though it's important to note it's not like a bully or a stereotypical jock, but it's to hide that she's constantly second-guessing herself and her ability to be liked for who she is and not what she knows. She won't get violent, but she will get passionate.

While she's excited for change and to become a better Magician, she freezes at any change in her friend group: she ices Andy immediately when the Brakebills students are forced to join a private class with the Hedge Witches, and seeing Brian and Emily making eyes at each other, she impulsively sleeps with Brian and makes sure Emily catches her in order to sabotage the new relationship: possessive and a lot needier than she lets on, she'd rather have Emily mad at her than have Emily leave her.

In short, Audrey's biggest weakness is that she's secretly second-guessing herself and wanting people to like her, despite what she says outwardly. She's not as confident as she comes across.

Personality: As stated previously, Audrey's outward appearance is one of extreme confidence--she's brash, she's loud, and she makes her presence known via sheer force of personality. Her main drive is that changes are--she loves change, especially for what she views as better, but they have to be on her own terms. Anything that takes away her freedom or ways to express herself is a big no-no. She's strongly hinted at being incredibly political, leaning towards the extreme far left. While insecure, she overcompensates in knowledge and detests generalizations as a whole.

It is important to note that her softer side comes out when she's alone--she's very 'witchy' in the stereotypical sense: she's religious and prays to old gods for Guidance, has a black cat familiar, and meditates. She's loathe to show these softer sides of her, even if she admits them--they're private for her, and privacy is something she values a lot. Because of how in tune she is with her emotions, she's got an incredible soft side she only tries to show in private or among her friends. If she trusts you, you will have a kind and caring friend constantly looking out for you, whether you like it or not.

Items: -Her Brakebills uniform
-Her bookbag with notebooks, various basic first-year magical textbooks, and the first Fillory and Further book
-Her wallet which contains a picture of her and Emily Marks
-I expect this one to be fully nerfed or missing in her inventory: Audrey has an enchanted lasso that can reach incredibly faraway things. Canonically, she used it to grab ahold of the moon and pull it closer to them. She snaps her fingers and the object returns to its original place.
